BIOGRAPHY
Laurence’s artistic journey started with photography around 2010 as she finished her bachelor’s degree in Visual Art at « Le 75 » in Belgium. Four years later, « Yunaika » was done and got exhibited in several places in Belgium, such as the Photography Museum in 2015. This specific project consiste on a visual research trying to find out if woman’s identity can be defined throughout photography.
Aside from photography and video making, Laurence worked as a communication officer for a non-profit company, raising money for people in need in Belgium, working close by the national french speaking broadcaster in Belgium. Frequently, she would take plane tickets to reach caucasus countries. Traveling around and ending up doing a poetic reportage about Georgia and Armenia. The project is called « Hereditary » as it questions the heredity aspect of a population’s identity.
Influenced by the world surrounding her, her travels and social media format, her work evolved into a larger concept, mixing writing, voice-over, video, photo, graphic design and installation. Since 2019, as she stepped a foot in Argentina for the first time, for a year long of wondering around, she captured samples of the world and used it to create a new one. « The new world » comes with its own mythology. Part of its creed stands within the art pieces, making the project a collection of adages.
